Largest private railway undertaking in Poland launches its own German service – with RAILPOOL locomotives

On 03 November 2015, Poland’s largest private railway company and longstanding RAILPOOL client started its own rail freight services to and within Germany. The occasion was marked with a ceremony at Frankfurt an der Oder station, which saw the first container train in the service pass through from Poland en route to Hamburg. The company obtained safety certificate part B in the summer, and on that basis and using German drivers, Lotos Kolej will in future provide the container freight services from ports in Germany and ARA for its partner company PCC Intermodal.

For those services, Lotos Kolej is using TRAXX-MS locomotives from RAILPOOL the two companies have a successful partnership dating back six years.

President Henryk Gruca described the launch of the new routes as “the most important milestone in the history of Lotos Kolej since our company’s establishment and the modernisation of our fleet”. He added that “this latest step is made possible by high-performance locomotives from RAILPOOL”.
